Will elections lead to stability in Ivory Coast?

Voters cast ballots to choose a new Parliament following a presidential election marred by violence,

After months of political turmoil, voters in Ivory Coast have cast their ballots to choose legislators.

The poll is seen as a test of the nation’s stability after a presidential election in October was marred by violence as incumbent President Alassane Ouattara’s opponents disputed his bid for a third term.

Now, two of Ouattara’s rivals have teamed up in a coalition to prevent him from expanding his power. Henri Konan Bedie and Laurent Gbagbo fielded parliamentary candidates on a joint list.
