Gypsy melody
Two Serbian Gypsies celebrate Roma culture through music.
This film is about two Serbian Gypsy musicians and activists, Dragan Ristic from Belgrade and Vince Olah from Novi Sad, who’ve devoted their lives to developing Roma culture and preserving its collective memory.
Ristic’s and Olah’s musical styles are very different. But both have survived forced assimilation, segregation and marginalisation by making music; and, in the process, given Romany music international recognition and drawn world attention to their cultural and ethnic identity.
