US unemployment drops in June – five million people back at work

US President Donald Trump has praised the latest employment data as proof that the country is back on track.

Nearly five million Americans went back to work in June.

But overall, only a third of the 22 million jobs lost during the pandemic has been restored.

This comes as the United States registers another daily record rise in new coronavirus cases.
